Minister of Government Communications and official spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani announced Tuesday that a video containing confessions from those involved in plots to undermine national security and incite chaos and physical sabotage within the Kingdom will be released shortly.
During a press briefing at the Prime Ministry, Al-Momani stated that 16 individuals had been arrested for illegal activities monitored closely by the General Intelligence Department since 2021.
He revealed details of the plots, which included possession of explosives and automatic weapons, hiding a ready-to-use rocket, an illegal drone manufacturing project, and the recruitment and training of individuals both inside the Kingdom and abroad.
Al-Momani noted that the short-range rockets seized had a range of 3 to 5 kilometres. He clarified that these dark plots were not linked to any regional event and were specifically targeting Jordan, having originated four years ago.
Three key figures from the cell were arrested last February, and rocket storage warehouses were uncovered in Amman and Zarqa, according to Al-Momani.
Earlier on Tuesday, the General Intelligence Department announced it had foiled the plots and arrested 16 suspects involved. The cases have been referred to the State Security Court for legal action.
