Minister of Government Communication and official spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani said Tuesday that the foiled plots targeting Jordan’s national security, uncovered by the General Intelligence Directorate, pose a direct threat to the country’s security and sovereignty.

During a press briefing, the government revealed details about the planned attacks aimed at destabilising Jordan and causing material damage. The GID announced earlier in the day that it had successfully thwarted these plans.

In response to reporters’ questions about whether the plots were tied to a specific regional event, Momani stated: “The fact that these events unfolded over the course of four years makes it difficult to believe they are linked to a single regional incident.”

He clarified that the plots were connected to a dark, organised scheme not related to specific events.

Momani added that the rockets’ range—between 3 to 5 km—clearly points to an attempt to target Jordanian territory and undermine national sovereignty.

“We absolutely reject any attempts to tamper with Jordan’s national security,” he affirmed.

When asked about the political affiliations of the suspects, Momani confirmed they belong to a political group that is unlicensed and has been legally dissolved.
