Zain Group held a three-day workshop in Amman, Jordan, titled "Data and Artificial Intelligence," focusing on technological innovation and the transformative applications of data and AI in today’s world. The event was organized by Zain’s Data Office, in collaboration with Cloudera and ZainTECH, Zain’s digital and ICT arm.
The Zain Data Office, a strategic initiative launched by the group’s technology division, aims to elevate data culture and implement effective data governance practices. Its focus is on maximizing the value of data across operations—ensuring accountability, availability, usability, and auditability—while standardizing governance policies and enhancing data quality and privacy.
Zain, a regional leader in technological innovation, welcomed numerous industry experts and IT thought leaders to the workshop. The event provided a unique opportunity for Zain’s data talents to deepen their expertise in data science and AI applications. The workshop aligned with Zain’s WARD4 strategic vision, with a strong focus on customer happiness and digital services.
Throughout the three days, participants explored best practices for leveraging data and AI to enhance innovation and improve customer experiences. Zain emphasized its commitment to translating workshop insights into actionable strategies that support its digital transformation initiatives and drive emerging technologies across the group’s infrastructure.
Mohammed Al-Murshed, Zain Group’s CTO, highlighted AI’s powerful role across industries, stating:
"AI has become a transformative force for efficiency, task execution, and decision-making, thanks to its capabilities in processing massive data sets with accuracy and speed."
He added that the workshop fostered strategic alignment with Cloudera and ZainTECH to propel Zain’s tech innovation agenda forward.
The workshop featured a dynamic agenda:
Day One: Focused on strategic vision, industry trends, and advanced AI platform capabilities by Cloudera.
Day Two: Featured a Datathon competition, where teams collaborated on real-world use cases.
Day Three: Included project presentations before a judging panel. The winning team completed their solution end-to-end within 48 hours, showcasing commercial viability and technical implementation through Cloudera Agent Studio.
Zain also highlighted its use of Cloudera’s hybrid data platform, which powers AI-driven insights across public and private clouds, while ensuring privacy and responsible AI deployment. The Group leverages AI to optimize network performance, predict outages, improve customer experience, and reduce operational costs.
Zain’s strategic partnership with Cloudera enables its Data Office to eliminate silos, adopt a holistic approach to analytics, and reinforce a culture of data-driven innovation. By treating data as a strategic asset, Zain aims to solidify its leadership in data governance and position data as a key driver of innovation, growth, and competitive advantage.
