The 34th Arab Summit convenes Saturday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, amid pivotal regional developments, including a major shift in Syria, the ongoing brutal aggression on Gaza, and the retreat of Iran and its proxies in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi took part Thursday in the opening session of the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers ahead of the 34th session of the Arab League Council at the summit level.

The session adopted draft resolutions to be submitted for approval at the summit.

Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Ambassador Hossam Zaki said the Palestinian cause tops the agenda of the 34th Arab Summit scheduled for Saturday in Baghdad, alongside other key political issues.

He noted that while the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo on 4 March had approved a plan for Gaza’s reconstruction, implementation was postponed due to the continued Israeli aggression.
