The Civil Service and Public Administration Commission has begun implementing a new recruitment system based on artificial intelligence and a smart platform, replacing manual shortlisting. The move aims to modernise government hiring processes, accelerate application reviews, and ensure transparency and fairness among all applicants, according to Commission President Fayez Al-Nahar.
Speaking on Wednesday, Al-Nahar said the follows the issuance of Human Resources Management Regulation No. 33 of 2024, which shifted government hiring from a competitive queue system to open-call announcements.
He explained that the new system allows anyone who meets a job’s criteria to apply directly, without being bound by priority order. This opens the door to attracting qualified candidates capable of performing effectively.
The system is now in use across all ministries, government institutions, and agencies, with applications submitted through the first version of the newly launched smart recruitment platform.
Al-Nahar highlighted that one of the most significant upgrades is the use of AI to screen applications. Previously, a dedicated committee conducted manual reviews, a process that was time-consuming and labour-intensive.
Now, AI algorithms match job requirements with application data within seconds, based on predefined criteria for each role. This ensures objectivity, transparency, and strengthens credibility and fairness in recruitment.
He added that the Commission is currently developing the platform’s second version, which is undergoing testing to ensure its security and reliability, alongside staff training for efficient use.
Al-Nahar noted that while the smart platform will eventually be used for all public sector roles, it will first be piloted in sectors.
He stressed that human oversight will remain part of all recruitment stages to ensure proper use of the technology and to verify the platform's accuracy in line with professional and administrative standards.
