Under Royal directives, Jordan’s Public Security Directorate dispatched specialised Civil Defence fire crews on Sunday to support efforts in extinguishing wildfires in Syria’s Latakia region.

According to a statement from the PSD, the teams were equipped with modern tools and machinery and began operations immediately upon entering Syrian territory.

Meanwhile, Syria’s Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management announced the formation of a joint operations room with local organisations to coordinate firefighting efforts amid the growing spread of forest fires in northern Latakia.
