Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, said on Monday that Jordan is a key partner of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and this partnership is based on the Kingdom's participation in its firm positions that call for solving all regional crises, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, which was and will remain the basis of conflict and solution in the Middle East. Region.
He added during a press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia Boyar Osmani at the Dead Sea, for the work of the Mediterranean Conference of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, that the Palestinian issue was and will remain the basis for the solution and the achievement of security and peace that we all want to build a better future of opportunities and cooperation, free from want and occupation.
"There is an occupation that extends for kilometers from the place where we are sitting, and therefore our rejection of the occupation is a fixed position," according to Safadi, referring to the Israeli occupation.
Regarding the Palestinian presence, Safadi said, "If Jordan attends, the Palestinian voice will attend, and the conference has several agendas, and everything the organization proposes is consistent with our vision."
Safadi pointed out that the conference included talking about the Ukrainian crisis and the necessity of solving it politically because of its repercussions on the whole world.
The Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked Jordan for hosting this conference, which brings up all issues in the Mediterranean region, noting that "Jordan is a true partner that supports the agenda of the organization."
"The organization is trying to meet security challenges in the Middle East and the world," he said, calling for finding a way to ease the burden of the Russian war on Ukrainians.
The conference, organized by the Republic of North Macedonia, Chair of the Mediterranean Partners Group for Cooperation 2022, and the General Secretariat of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The conference will be attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Rau, representatives of the 57 member states of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and its 10 Mediterranean and Asian partners, Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Schmid, Secretary-General of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Roberto Montella, and a number of its parliamentarians.
The conference, which is titled “Strengthening Security and Cooperation in the Mediterranean: Strengthening Dialogue with the Mediterranean Partners of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe,” addresses many issues, including the role of youth in development and security, cooperation in facing challenges posed by climate change, economic empowerment of women, combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
The session will be followed by joint press statements by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Boyar Osmani, in her capacity as Chair of the Mediterranean Partners Group in the organization.
Jordan hosted the work of the conference in 2008 and 2015.
