It was fate, dear father, that you left this world after a long life filled with hard work, dedication, and the tireless effort of building a family bonded by love and faith. You fulfilled your duty, lived a life of kindness and giving, and departed this world just as you used to say: “A good life, and a peaceful, accepted death.”
You left us in body, but your memory remains deeply rooted in our hearts—leaving behind a sorrow that time cannot erase and tears that no days can dry. One of the hardest truths in life is losing loved ones, those noble souls taken from us by death's quiet force and undeniable will:
“When their time comes, they cannot delay it for a moment, nor can they advance it” — the Holy Qur’an.
Dearest father, forty days have passed, but your pure spirit still lives on in our broken hearts. You remain with us in every moment—your honourable character, your kind presence, and your good name live on. You forgave those who wronged you, stood tall with dignity, and embraced everyone with love and warmth. You were never distant from family, friends, or neighbours—always present in every occasion, always ready to help those in need, near or far.
We will miss your warm stories of the past—your memories of Hayy al-Jad’a in Salt, your walks to Tal School in pursuit of education, your recollections of waiting for your father to return from military duty, and how he once disappeared for two months while recovering in Alexandria’s Victoria Hospital after being wounded in the 1948 war defending the walls of Jerusalem. Though he returned safely, he lived with illness until his death in 1982.
How could we forget your tales of long summers in Suwada and Abu al-Qaiqab, the school breaks spent working the land, your commitment to knowledge, and your passion for giving—whether in public service or the private sector? You never turned anyone away, always walking with them to meet their needs.
You always said that patriotism is sacred, and so is serving your country. You believed that nations are built by their people’s sincerity, loyalty, and dedication.
Dearest father, though your body is gone, the ache in our hearts and the tears in our eyes remain. Your soul will forever live in our hearts, and in the hearts of all who knew and loved you—your friends, your family, your people, and the kind souls of Salt, the city you loved and served with dignity, honesty, and mutual respect.
In the end, we submit to the will of God, who says in His Holy Book:
“O tranquil soul, return to your Lord well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]. So enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.”
May God have mercy on your soul, Abu Thaer. May He grant you eternal peace and a place in His vast paradise. We will always be proud of you. We will carry your memory in our hearts and keep praying for you for as long as we live.
Your loyal son,
Nidal Adel Dabbas
