Coinciding with the announcement of Tawjihi (General Secondary) exam results, Al-Ahliyya Amman University underscored the opportunities offered by its newly established College of Technical Education — the first of its kind among Jordan’s private universities — during separate interviews on Jordan Television and Roya TV on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Dr. Sadeq Al-Hourani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Professor Dr. Bashar Al-Tarawneh, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the College of Technical Education, discussed how the college addresses labor market needs, offers bridging pathways to bachelor’s degrees, and removes barriers for students with Tawjihi scores of 50% and above.
Dr. Al-Hourani highlighted the college’s accreditation by the global Pearson BTEC organization, recognized in 75 countries, and emphasized that education should be a gateway to employment, not just a certificate for display. He also announced scholarships for top-performing students and those enrolling in technical programs.
Dr. Al-Tarawneh detailed the college’s programs, including:
Medical Device Technology
Hospitality Management (Culinary Arts)
Game Development
Business Management (Supply Chain & Procurement)
Film & Television Production
Health & Social Care (Allied Health Professions)
Software Engineering
Agriculture / Crop Production
Interior Design
Automotive Engineering
Several of these specialties — Interior Design, Automotive Engineering, Software Engineering, Film & Television, Agriculture/Crop Production, and Dairy Production — are also internationally accredited by Pearson.
Both officials stressed that the programs were chosen based on market demand, with flexible admission numbers determined by Jordan’s Accreditation Commission.
On the broader higher education environment, Dr. Al-Hourani noted that Amman has been ranked the 64th best student city worldwide for 2026 by QS, and called for less restrictive legislation to attract more international students, competing with countries like Egypt and Turkey.
