August 9, 2025 — Customs clearance and freight companies in Jordan completed 536,000 customs declarations in the first half of 2025, up from 445,000 during the same period last year. These covered export, import, transit, and re-export transactions.

Al-Omari Customs Center, linking Jordan with Saudi Arabia, handled the largest share with 130,887 declarations, followed by Aqaba (95,493), the airport (86,747), Amman (45,165), and Jaber crossing with Syria (25,867), with the remainder processed at other centers.

Head of the Customs Clearance and Freight Companies Association, Dhaifallah Abu Aqoula, noted significant activity across customs centers, driven by domestic trade, transit, and re-export. He highlighted the reopening of all 100 clearance companies at Jaber crossing, operating around the clock to speed cargo movement.

Abu Aqoula added that Jordan’s trade openness with Syria has boosted the trucking sector, aided by reduced fees on goods and trucks, with growing exports to Syria—especially construction materials.
