Mohammad Al Jaafari, national team player and student at Amman Ahliyya University, achieved a historic feat by winning the gold medal in karate at the World Games in Chengdu, China.

Al Jaafari secured Jordan’s second medal at the event, following teammate Abdulrahman Al Masatfa’s bronze in the under-67 kg category.

He advanced to gold with consistent dominance, topping his group in the under-84 kg category in the preliminary round with an 8-0 win over Croatia’s Ivan Kvesic, a 9-2 win over the Netherlands’ Brian Timmermans, and a 2-2 draw with Greece’s Mastrogiannis Konstantinos.

In the semi-final, Al Jaafari defeated Japan’s Shimada Rikkito 6-1, before beating Kvesic again in the final 4-0 to claim the gold in style.

Karate competitions at the World Games featured the world’s top eight athletes in each weight class, based on their results in the latest World Championship and their global ranking, making Al Jaafari’s victory a source of pride for both Jordan and Amman Ahliyya University.
