Al Naufar Mall, owned by Jordanian Duty Free Shops Company, received the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification, becoming the first shopping mall in Jordan and the first building in Aqaba to earn this global green building accreditation.
The EDGE certificate is awarded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. It is a leading international certification for buildings that save energy, water, and construction materials, contributing to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability in construction and urban development.
Al Naufar Mall’s certification crowns Jordanian Duty Free Shops Company’s efforts to implement best sustainable design practices, reflecting its commitment to developing environmentally responsible projects supporting the national shift toward green development and enhancing Aqaba’s status as a modern, eco-friendly economic and tourism hub.
The company is holding a celebration in Aqaba under the patronage of Shadi Al Majali, Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, with participation from economic and social stakeholders and various guests.
This achievement aligns with the aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II to elevate Aqaba as a model of sustainable development and balanced urban progress at the national and regional levels.
