The Jordan Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday called on all commercial and service sectors in the Kingdom—including traders, business owners, malls, and shopping centers—to actively help reduce electricity loads during peak evening hours, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, today and tomorrow.
In a statement, the Chamber stressed the importance of minimizing the use of air conditioning, refrigeration units, floodlights, and non-essential lighting to ensure grid stability and protect the national power network. It noted that maintaining energy stability is a shared responsibility that extends beyond government agencies, requiring the collective cooperation of the private sector in a of national responsibility and social solidarity.
The statement highlighted that the current hot weather and increased electricity demand make it essential for businesses to reduce non-essential consumption, adding that protecting vital infrastructure is a national priority that necessitates participation from all sectors.
The Chamber urged a flexible and fully cooperative response to this call, emphasizing that such actions reflect genuine community solidarity, help maintain the quality and efficiency of electricity services, and prevent possible outages or malfunctions.
It also underscored that conserving electricity during peak hours is not merely a technical measure but an embodiment of social responsibility culture that commercial sectors should adopt—especially amid growing pressure on energy resources.
