Today, the French National Assembly is set to vote on two motions of no confidence against the government, in the aftermath of passing a controversial pension reform bill without a vote in the National Assembly, based on Article 49.3 of the Constitution.
In this regard, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday that he hopes his proposed pension reform bill, which could be adopted by the parliament without a vote starting from Monday, will follow a "democratic path to the end," after "months of political and social dialogues and more than 170 hours of debate, resulting in a unified text between the Senate and the National Assembly."
The President of the Republic also contacted the President of the Senate Gerard Larcher and the President of the National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet "to reaffirm his support for the parliament and all its members as the government enhances its efforts to protect them," according to the Elysee Palace.
