Under the patronage of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr Saleh Kharabsheh, the National Advanced Natural Gas Company Watani — owned by Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (Jopetrol) and Jordan Gas Company — inaugurated today the first national station for fuelling vehicles and trucks with compressed natural gas (CNG). The station is located in Al-Muwaqqar, next to the National Chlorine Industries Company, with representatives from the public and private sectors and media institutions in attendance.

The opening marks the operational launch of the first project of its kind in Jordan to process and sell locally produced natural gas, part of national efforts to strengthen reliance on domestic energy sources and enable the transport sector to adopt more efficient and sustainable alternatives.

The ceremony included a guided tour of the station’s facilities, where guests were briefed on its operations and shown how vehicles can be converted into dual-fuel systems (diesel and CNG). The tour highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of the system, such as reduced emissions, lower operating costs, and improved energy efficiency.

The project is part of Watani’s vision to expand the use of Jordanian natural gas in the transport sector and support clean-energy infrastructure across the Kingdom.

Opening the station represents a key step in Watani’s strategy to establish an integrated network of CNG stations nationwide, expanding energy choices for individuals and businesses while advancing sustainable development and economic modernisation plans.

Watani reaffirmed its full commitment to providing practical and efficient energy solutions that support the national economy and reduce reliance on external sources, through projects based on public-private partnerships and in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, and other stakeholders.
