Fuheis – The spotlight returns tonight, Saturday, August 23, 2025, as the 32nd edition of the Al-Fuheis Festival – “Jordan: History and Civilization” kicks off at 7:00 p.m. The event, held under the patronage of Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, will run until Thursday evening, August 28.
The opening ceremony, hosted at the Qanater Theater, will feature a special performance titled “Habib Jeries”, composed of poems by the late Jordanian poets Habib Al-Zyoudi and Jeries Samawi, directed by Dr. Mohammad Wasif and performed by a group of artists.
Ayman Samawi, Executive Director of the festival and President of Fuheis Youth Club, said the festival remains a symbol of joy and resilience, noting: “We continue with our festival, and the people of Fuheis and Jordan as a whole insist on celebrating happiness.”
This year’s events will be spread across several venues: musical and artistic performances at Qanater Theater, cultural discussions at the Church Museum / Khaled Manizel Forum, side activities at Darat Hamzeh and Al-Freihet Association, along with bazaars, traditional food corners, puppet theater, art exhibitions, children’s workshops, and instrumental performances.
Program Highlights:
Sunday, Aug 24 (7:00 p.m.): Cultural forum honoring the late Prime Minister Marouf Al-Bakhit, with speakers including Samir Al-Habashneh, Wajih Azaizeh, Sabri Rbeihat, and his daughter Suzanne Al-Bakhit. At 9:00 p.m., performances by Takat Band (Syria) and Jordanian singer Basil Jreisat.
Monday, Aug 25 (7:00 p.m.): An Arab poetry evening featuring Ali Al-Faouri (Jordan), Mutawakkil Taha (Palestine), and Aboud Al-Jabri (Iraq). At 9:00 p.m., a “Golden Era” musical night with Abdel Rahman Al-Khudur, Nathalie Samaan, and Yasmin Ahmed.
Tuesday, Aug 26 (7:00 p.m.): Tribute to pioneers, honoring Zain (economy), Nazir Obeidat (education), Emil Haddad (arts), and Hind Abu Al-Shaar (literature/history). At 9:00 p.m., shows by Bint Al-Balad Band (Egypt) and Jordanian singer Said Hattar.
Wednesday, Aug 27 (7:00 p.m.): Forum on “Jordan: Stability in a Turbulent Region” with Dr. Abdel Raouf Al-Rawabdeh, Qatari thinker Mohammad Saleh Al-Mesfer, and Dr. Mohammad Abu Rumman. At 9:00 p.m., concerts by Georges Nehme (Lebanon) and Firas Tu’imeh (Jordan).
Thursday, Aug 28 (7:00 p.m.): Forum on “Jordan’s Historical Responsibility Toward Palestine” with Dr. Muhannad Mubaidin and journalist Hamadeh Faraneh, moderated by Osama Abdel Hadi. The closing concert at 9:00 p.m. will feature Zuhair Francis (Palestine) and Haitham Elias (Jordan).
The festival continues its tradition as one of Jordan’s most prominent cultural events, blending music, literature, art, and heritage in a celebration of Jordanian and Arab identity.
