Amman – The latest ceasefire proposal presented by the US administration on Gaza included a clause addressing how the Israeli occupation army would withdraw from the Strip, which Hamas described as a “trap,” according to Axios.

The outlet cited a source saying the clause stipulates that a full Israeli withdrawal would be carried out without exceptions, including from the Strip’s perimeter, provided that the new government in Gaza can enforce security.

Israel reportedly welcomed the clause, as it does not require a complete, immediate, and unconditional withdrawal from Gaza.

Hamas, in contrast, labelled the clause a “trap,” arguing it would grant Israel veto power over the timing of the withdrawal and the structure of Gaza’s new governing mechanism after the war.
