Political analyst Dr. Fawaz Abu Tayeh said Israel’s recent airstrike on Qatar’s capital Doha represented an unprecedented event in the Arab–Israeli conflict, breaking traditional geographic boundaries and bringing the confrontation into the heart of the Gulf.

Abu Tayeh told Rum the operation targeted Hamas leadership but carried multiple political and strategic messages, not only to Palestinian groups but also to Qatar and Gulf states in general.

He added the attack shows Israel now sees its national security extending anywhere it perceives a threat, signaling to Gulf states that supporting or hosting resistance factions will come at a cost.

Abu Tayeh also noted the strike demonstrated Israel’s capability to conduct precise operations even in capitals far from traditional conflict zones.

He highlighted swift Gulf responses, reflecting awareness of the threat and the need for enhanced security and political coordination to prevent similar breaches.

Internationally, the strike triggered widespread condemnation as a violation of international norms and sovereignty, with Europe threatening sanctions and Washington caught between strategic allies Qatar and Israel.
