US President Donald Trump voiced caution over Israel’s strike in Doha that targeted Hamas officials.

“Qatar is a very great ally… so Israel and others need to be careful. When we attack people, we must be cautious,” Trump told reporters.

Trump initially criticised Israel over the unprecedented strike last Tuesday in the Qatari capital, where negotiators had been working on a Gaza truce.

US diplomats later confirmed the attack would not affect ties with Israel.

The strike drew wide international condemnation, especially from Gulf states. Qatari Prime Minister urged the international community to end “double standards” and punish Israel for its crimes during a preparatory meeting for an upcoming Arab-Islamic summit in Doha.

Israeli raids killed 6 Hamas members and a Qatari security officer.

Qatar hosts the largest US base in the region and mediates the Israel-Hamas war alongside Washington and Cairo.
