Amman – Few figures embody realism and practical vision like Dr. Maher Hourani, Chairman of the Board of the United Jordanian Investment Company (owner of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and the University Schools Group). Known for transforming ideas into tangible educational success, Hourani has spent over 35 years leading Al-Ahliyya Amman University toward distinction and global recognition.
Driven by faith in Jordan, its leadership, and its people, Hourani continuously enhances the university’s standing as Jordan’s first private higher education institution. His forward-thinking approach has expanded its academic landscape to include faculties in medicine, engineering, business, law, design, hospitality, agriculture, and dentistry—each designed to keep pace with scientific and technological progress.
Most recently, Hourani established Jordan’s first College of Technical Education, inspired by the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The college embodies the Crown Prince’s call for practical, skill-based education that bridges theory and application to meet modern labour market needs. It focuses on training professionals in health, design, agriculture, and IT—fields where innovation meets functionality.
This initiative underscores the university’s role as a pioneer in aligning education with national and global priorities. With growing international accreditations and rising global rankings, Al-Ahliyya Amman University now competes with leading regional and international institutions.
Behind this success stands Dr. Hourani—a man whose leadership continues to translate national vision into educational excellence, advancing Jordan’s position as a regional hub for knowledge, innovation, and human development under the Hashemite leadership.
