The 11th annual Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) Congress opened Tuesday in Aqaba under the patronage of Tourism Minister Emad Hijazeen.
The event, the world’s largest B2B platform for the destination wedding industry, brings together around 500 industry leaders from more than 70 countries on the Red Sea.
Organised by QnA International in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the Jordan Tourism Board, the conference turns Aqaba into a hub of creativity, collaboration and inspiration in luxury wedding planning.
Chairman of ASEZA, Shadi Majali, said during a press conference: “We are proud to host the world’s leading destination wedding planners in Aqaba — a celebration of creativity, luxury and the art of turning dreams into reality.”
He added that Aqaba’s unique landscapes, rich culture and world-class hospitality the perfect canvas for unforgettable experiences and shaping the future of destination weddings.
Tourism Board Director-General Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat said hosting the conference in Aqaba is a strategic step to strengthen Jordan’s position on the global tourism map, noting the Kingdom’s distinctive features make it an ideal destination for luxury weddings.
He affirmed the board’s commitment to supporting the wedding industry as a promising sector that boosts the national tourism economy and reflects Jordan’s image as a comprehensive tourist destination.
Arabiyat added that Jordan is home to about 15 exceptional historical sites suitable for events — from ancient ruins to stunning coastal locations — making it an ideal setting for timeless celebrations.
He noted that hosting the conference in Aqaba reinforces Jordan’s global standing in this specialised sector and highlights the board’s commitment to positioning the Kingdom as a leading destination for luxury celebrations.
