AMMAN — King Abdullah returns to the Kingdom following a working visit to Sweden.
In Stockholm on Tuesday, His Majesty met King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, where talks focused on strengthening Jordanian-Swedish friendship and expanding cooperation.
Discussions also covered regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue, and ways to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.
King Abdullah also met Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to discuss deepening bilateral ties, with emphasis on trade, investment, tourism, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and military cooperation.
The two sides reviewed regional developments, noting shared views on key regional issues and mutual support for achieving a just peace based on the two-state solution.
The King commended Sweden’s support for humanitarian relief in Gaza and stressed the need to resume funding for UNRWA in line with its UN mandate.
On efforts to end the war in Gaza, His Majesty called for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of sufficient aid, in accordance with a proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump.
He reaffirmed Jordan’s continued coordination with regional and international partners to promote stability, highlighting Sweden’s role within the EU framework in supporting peace efforts.
The King also warned of escalating violence targeting Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem and reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and sovereignty.
For his part, Prime Minister Kristersson stressed the importance of Jordan’s partnership with Sweden bilaterally, within the EU, and through NATO, expressing his country’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom across various fields.
