AMMAN — King Abdullah II on Wednesday congratulated Professor Omar Yaghi for winning the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

The King described the achievement as “a new source of pride in the record of Jordanians worldwide.”

On X, King Abdullah wrote: “We take pride in Jordanian scientist Professor Omar Yaghi and congratulate him and Jordan on winning the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. This achievement adds to the distinguished record of Jordanians across various fields globally and proves that Jordanians can make a difference wherever they are.”

Yaghi won the Nobel Prize alongside Japanese scientist Susumu Kitagawa and UK-born Richard Robson “for their development of metal-organic frameworks,” according to the Nobel Committee. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2025 Chemistry Nobel to the trio for their work on these frameworks.
