Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Thursday took part in a ministerial meeting on implementing US President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza. The meeting was hosted by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and opened by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The meeting discussed the importance of upholding the Gaza ceasefire agreement and mechanisms for implementing its first phase, leading to an end to the war, the exchange and withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip, and the entry of sufficient and immediate humanitarian aid.
In his remarks, Safadi stressed the need to fully commit to the ceasefire agreement, end the war, address its catastrophic consequences, and ensure the immediate and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid to end the famine in Gaza.
He affirmed Jordan’s continued humanitarian role in delivering aid to Gaza in cooperation with Arab partners, the international community, and UN organisations. He said Jordan is ready to resume aid entry once Israel lifts its restrictions, ensuring safe and lawful delivery in line with international and humanitarian law.
Safadi praised the decisive role of US President Donald Trump in reaching the agreement, his commitment to ending the war, ensuring aid delivery, preventing displacement, rebuilding Gaza, stopping West Bank annexation, and advancing peace efforts. He also commended Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their role in achieving the deal.
Safadi reaffirmed that Jordan will continue working with regional and international partners to launch a genuine and effective path toward a just peace based on the two-state solution.
The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the UK; a minister of state from the UAE Foreign Ministry; the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; and representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Canada, and Greece.
