The “Jordan Trail National Trek 2025” kicked off Friday, Oct. 10, organised by the Jordan Trail Association for the eighth consecutive year, in a spirit of adventure and appreciation for nature.
The 43-day trek stretches 675 kilometres from Umm Qais in the north to Aqaba in the south, passing through 75 Jordanian villages. Adventurers and hiking enthusiasts from Jordan and around the world are taking part, whether on the full route or selected sections, including weekend and one-day hikes.
Since its launch in 2017, over 1,500 trekkers from 40 nationalities have participated, making it one of the region’s top adventure tourism events. The Jordan Trail Association aims to promote sustainable domestic tourism, position Jordan as a global adventure destination, and support local communities by creating over 580 direct jobs along the route.
This year’s event is held in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, with support from the private sector — including Joramco (gold sponsor), Ayla Oasis and Central Toyota (silver sponsors), and media partners Hala Radio and Bliss FM.
The Jordan Trail enjoys royal patronage from His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein, in line with the Economic Modernisation Vision that places “Making Jordan a global destination” among the national growth drivers. In 2018, His Majesty awarded the association the King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Medal for Excellence, Second Class, in recognition of its role in advancing tourism and the national economy.
National Geographic named the Jordan Trail one of the world’s best destinations in 2018. It also won the World Tourism Award in London that year and was recently listed by Lonely Planet among the top travel destinations for 2025 — remaining a national symbol showcasing Jordan’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and diversity of adventures from north to south.
