Jordan… the Unsung Soldier Who Expects No Thanks

The war may have ended, but the echo of heroism still resonates amid the rubble… Gaza triumphed through its steadfastness, and Jordan prevailed through its stance. Though no flags were raised nor drums beaten in its honor, Jordan remains the unsung soldier, always at the front lines, giving quietly and speaking when others fall silent.

Jordan’s positions were never born of fleeting anger or seasonal whims—they reflect a steadfast approach, penned by the Hashemites in ink of integrity and faithfully followed by Jordanians with sincerity and devotion. Actions done with true loyalty to nation, brotherhood, and Arabism seek no applause and require no thanks; duty itself is reward enough.

Perhaps the most vivid symbol of Jordan’s stance was the day His Majesty King Abdullah II personally flew over Gaza, leading Royal Air Force planes that broke the blockade to deliver humanitarian aid to our steadfast people. This was not merely a flight through the sky, but a flight of conscience—Arab and human. It encapsulated decades of Hashemite steadfastness and proved that leadership in Jordan commands not from offices but from action on the ground. His Majesty embodied the principle that dignity, sovereignty, and generosity are not slogans to be raised—they are acts to be seen, felt, and lived. He voiced the Palestinian people’s suffering in every international forum, igniting hope for a two-state peace plan and guiding the international community toward recognition of the State of Palestine.

We also saw Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi speak on the nation’s behalf—moving people to tears while confronting the world with heartfelt sincerity and just positions. We witnessed our Arab Army and medical services delivering lifelines in Gaza amid the siege, while the Royal Air Force bypassed restrictions to aid from the sky, as if sending messages of loyalty from Jordan to Palestine: “We are here; we will not vanish in your time of need.”

Jordan did not stop at words—it acted. Field hospitals were established, hundreds of wounded and sick from Gaza were received, and attempts at forced displacement were resisted, affirming that the land belongs to its people and dignity cannot be displaced.

And yet, when thanks were absent from some, we were not angered—we simply never expected it. Since the Battle of Karameh, we have learned that heroism needs no witnesses, and those who give out of principle require no praise.

Jordan has long been the conscience of the Arab world, the truthful voice when others fall silent or hesitate. It gives from its strength to feed the hungry and from its medicine to heal the wounded, even while its own people endure hardship. Still, ordinary Jordanians donate, women sell their gold, and children place their savings in Gaza boxes. This is how nations are measured—not by what they possess, but by what they give when hands fall short.

We seek no recognition because Jerusalem needs no medal in our conscience, and Gaza needs no thanks in our hearts. Our goal is for the flag to remain raised, for Al-Aqsa to stay free under Hashemite guardianship, and for Jordan to remain the first bastion of Arabism and the last wall of the nation.

Jordan today is not a spectator of history but its true maker. Those who know its history understand that since the dawn of the Arab Revolt, this nation has never abandoned its central cause nor compromised its dignity.

We act in silence, yet with the voice of history… giving as much as we can, trusting that only God rewards good with good.

May God protect the great Jordan—its leadership, people, and army.
May God protect resilient Gaza, which we love as we love ourselves.
May God protect Jerusalem, which remains and will remain our compass, our sacred trust, and our covenant.
