US President Donald Trump left Sunday night for Israel and then Egypt to attend the ‘Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit’ and the signing ceremony of the Gaza peace agreement.

Speaking to the media before boarding Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, Trump said his trip to the Middle East would be “very special,” adding that “everyone is very excited for this moment.”

He also noted he would address the Knesset.

The ‘Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit,’ co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Trump, will be held Monday with the participation of leaders from over 20 countries.

The summit aims to discuss ways to end the war in Gaza, promote peace and stability in the Middle East, and explore post-war arrangements and new prospects for regional cooperation.

On 29 September 2025, Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the Gaza war, which still requires approval from the concerned parties. The plan includes his chairmanship of a committee overseeing the transitional phase in the Strip.
