The Jordan Press Association’s Committee for the Protection of the Profession affirmed it continues monitoring and pursuing individuals impersonating journalists or media workers, whether on social media or in the field, as part of the council’s responsibility to safeguard the profession and its integrity.

The committee said the Public Prosecutor on Tuesday heard testimony from Association President Tareq Momani in several cases filed against people who falsely claimed to be journalists or media professionals, stressing the association follows these cases seriously to ensure the law is applied to violators.

It added that it works in direct coordination with members of the General Assembly within an organised effort to curb chaos in the media scene while promoting public and media freedoms within the framework of law and professional responsibility.

The committee reaffirmed that the Press Association gives top priority to regulating the media landscape in line with national and international professional standards, noting that combating media disorder does not contradict public freedoms but is an integral part of strengthening and consolidating them.
