King Abdullah and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, meeting in Rome on Tuesday, stressed the importance of ensuring full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and urged all parties to act effectively until all its stages are completed.

Both sides underlined the need to deliver sufficient humanitarian aid to all areas of Gaza and to build on the agreement to restore calm in the region and push for a just, comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Queen Rania attended the meeting, during which the King praised Italy’s support for the two-state solution and its humanitarian response in Gaza.

The King also warned against escalating measures against Palestinians in the West Bank and continued attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

He expressed appreciation for Italy’s efforts in hosting a new round of the “Aqaba Meetings” on Wednesday, focusing on West Africa.

The talks, attended by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, senior adviser to the King for religious and cultural affairs and his personal envoy, also covered the historic ties between Jordan and Italy and ways to expand cooperation across various fields.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and King’s Office Director Alaa Al-Bataineh also attended.
