Security and Agriculture Ministry teams shut down an unlicensed olive press in Irbid late Sunday after seizing 100 tins of adulterated oil mixed with vegetable oils and additives prepared for sale.
Irbid Agriculture Director Abdelhafiz Abu Arabi said the raid, conducted under ministerial supervision and in cooperation with security and inspection bodies, led to sealing the press after its third violation. He stressed that penalties for olive oil fraud are strict and that inspection teams operate around the clock to ensure product quality.
Abu Arabi urged citizens to test oil in Agriculture Ministry labs before purchase and to buy only from trusted sources, warning against misleading low-price ads. He added that authorities are closely monitoring the olive-pressing season, which has seen lower yields than in previous years.
