Amman- Justice Minister Bassam Al-Talhouni confirmed that the Ministry of Justice began implementing the electronic bracelet for convicted individuals some time ago, noting it has shown a significant positive impact.
He added that the bracelet serves as an alternative to detention and as an alternative to imprisonment, with its application determined by courts according to the nature of the sentence, its duration, and the convict's age.
Al-Talhouni explained that the law has been applied to 14,000 individuals up to this point.
Regarding the application of this law to the category of 'juveniles,' Al-Talhouni revealed that this category falls under the laws of the Ministry of Social Development, which determines a special system for applying penalties. He indicated that this group is the highest priority for benefiting from the alternative sentencing law.
