Amman – Rum Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemns Israeli government approval and legalisation of 19 illegal colonial settlements in occupied West Bank, calling move flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, blow to two-state solution efforts, and clear violation of inalienable right of Palestinian people to self-determination, end occupation, and establish independent sovereign state on 4 June 1967 lines with occupied Jerusalem as capital. Ministry stresses Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied West Bank.
Official spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali reaffirms Kingdom rejection of continued settlement projects and plans by extremist Israeli government in occupied West Bank, describing them as entrenchment of occupation and settlement expansion, undermining international will behind two-state solution, and violation of international law and legitimacy resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 condemning all Israeli measures aimed at altering demographic composition, character, and status of occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem, as well as advisory opinion of International Court of Justice affirming illegality of Israeli occupation and nullity of settlement construction and annexation measures.
Al-Majali urges international community to shoulder legal and moral responsibilities, compel Israel to halt dangerous escalation and illegal unilateral measures in occupied West Bank, and ensure fulfilment of legitimate Palestinian rights, foremost establishment of independent state on national soil, as only path to just and comprehensive peace guaranteeing regional security and stability.
