The Ministry of Education of Russia announced that scientists from the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, affiliated with the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, have developed advanced scientific methods to predict volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. According to the ministry’s statement, the newly developed technologies rely on a combination of historical data analysis, real-time monitoring, and laboratory modeling to better understand the behavior of more than 300 volcanoes in the region, including around 30 active ones. The monitored volcanoes vary in type, including basaltic volcanoes characterized by fluid lava flows, as well as more explosive volcanic systems.
