Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Tuesday that he had granted the Israeli army, in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, authorization to advance and take control of additional territory inside Lebanon, citing the need to prevent rocket fire toward Israeli border settlements. Israel and the United States have been carrying out airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, which reportedly resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and countries in the region.
