Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced Wednesday morning that two cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed in Al-Kharj Governorate. According to the official Saudi Press Agency Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing the Ministry’s official spokesperson, the two cruise missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed in Al-Kharj, while a drone was also intercepted and destroyed in the Eastern Province. The spokesperson had earlier announced the interception and destruction of nine drones immediately upon entering Saudi airspace. Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, which reportedly resulted in the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded by launching missile and drone attacks against Israel and other countries in the region. Iran has also imposed a naval blockade on vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz and targeted oil tankers attempting to pass through it. On Sunday, Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon toward northern Israel in response to Khamenei’s assassination, drawing Lebanon into an open war with Israel. Israeli forces subsequently carried out heavy airstrikes on southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs.
