The Israeli military announced that it targeted the supply and logistics wing of Iran’s ground forces on Tuesday, in addition to missile launch platforms and defense systems inside Iran. In a statement issued Wednesday, the military said it carried out an additional wave of airstrikes targeting command centers of the Iranian regime across Tehran. It added that the air raids struck dozens of regime command centers, internal security headquarters, and command centers of the Basij. Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, which reportedly resulted in the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and other countries in the region. Iran has also imposed a naval blockade on vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz and targeted oil tankers attempting to pass through it. On Sunday, Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon toward northern Israel in response to Khamenei’s assassination, drawing Lebanon into an open war with Israel. Israeli forces subsequently carried out heavy airstrikes on southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs.
