This came during His Majesty's inauguration of the International Orthodox Baptism Site University at the baptism site of Jesus Christ (Al-Maghtas). His Majesty the King emphasized that he will directly follow up on the progress of work in the implementation plan of the 2030 initiative, as the royal directive comes in line with His Majesty's efforts in caring for holy sites and preserving the Christian presence in the region, and confirming Jordan's status as home to the most important Christian sites and shrines in the region and the world. For his part, the President of the Council of Church Leaders in Jordan, Archbishop Christoforos Atallah, valued His Majesty the King's support for the 2030 initiative, pointing out the importance of developing strategic programs and plans in coordination with the Council of Church Leaders in Jordan. His Eminence Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa noted that the second millennium commemoration of the baptism of Jesus Christ in 2030 is not only a historical occasion, but an opportunity to emphasize the values of unity, harmony, and mutual understanding. The Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, Archbishop Hosam Naoum, said that the 2030 initiative is based on local preparation by preparing the place, developing the infrastructure and services, and preparing cadres to receive pilgrims and visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom.
