Balqa Applied University confirmed the cancellation of the graduation ceremony for Ajloun University College, which took place at the Irbid Municipal Stadium on Tuesday evening. Dr. Ruba Zaidan, Director of Media and Public Relations at the university, explained that the cancellation occurred after attendees failed to adhere to designated seating and invitation limits. Although each student was allocated three tickets to match the venue's capacity, many arrived with dozens of guests. Thousands of attendees gathered at the venue, pushing through the main gates and breaching the perimeter fence surrounding the field. The crowd subsequently occupied seats specifically reserved for faculty members and graduates. When the college dean requested that the crowd clear the stage area and return to designated seating, the situation escalated into verbal and physical altercations, resulting in an injury to a faculty member. Graduation certificates were scattered across the stadium ground during the commotion, forcing the dean to officially cancel the event. The university is currently assessing the physical damages to the rented stadium facilities, with no decision made yet on whether the ceremony will be rescheduled. Source: Rum Online News Agency
