The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Saturday that it is following up on several Jordanians, including children, who were exploited for begging by a network currently under investigation by Malaysian authorities on human trafficking charges. Official Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali stated that the ministry—through its Operations and Consular Affairs Directorate and the Jordanian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur—is actively monitoring the victims' well-being, providing necessary assistance, and coordinating with Malaysian authorities to ensure their safe repatriation to the Kingdom. Al-Majali added that coordination is also ongoing regarding the suspects, some of whom are relatives of the victims. Upon their return to Jordan, adult suspects will be referred to the competent judicial authorities to undergo legal procedures under national laws, including the Prevention of Human Trafficking Law, which classifies such acts as transnational crimes.
