AMMAN (August 27, 2026) — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), in coordination with administrative authorities, the Public Security Directorate, and the Gendarmerie forces, executed a field campaign to remove illegal encroachments and obstacles from sidewalks and roadways along Jordan Street. The campaign was launched in response to multiple public complaints regarding unauthorized commercial practices obstructing public thoroughfares. Executive Director of Region One at GAM, Ghazi Al-Hadeed, explained that the drive is part of routine operations led by the Removal and Irregularity Control Department to clear public rights-of-way across the capital. Al-Hadeed noted that despite regular inspection rounds and prior warnings, several merchants continue to occupy sidewalks and road space. He affirmed that inspection enforcement will continue uninterrupted in coordination with the local administrative governor and security agencies to ensure strict compliance, safeguard pedestrian movement, and improve traffic flow.
