His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Thursday, received a letter from retired Staff Lieutenant General Pilot Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the text of which follows: 'In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful My Lord, His Hashemite Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Supreme Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army, may God preserve and protect you. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. I received with immense pride and honor Your Majesty's royal letter, along with the precious words it conveyed that I will cherish for as long as I live, and an appreciation that I consider a badge of honor on my chest, following decades during which I was honored to serve in the ranks of the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army, as a loyal soldier to Jordan and faithful to its Hashemite leadership. As I convey to Your High Station the most sincere expressions of loyalty and belonging, I express my deep thanks and gratitude for the precious royal trust You placed in me, and for the continuous care, support, and guidance with which You surrounded the Armed Forces and the brave men and women of the Arab Army, which served as a drive for us to exert maximum efforts in serving the homeland and defending its security and sovereignty. My Sovereign, It was a great honor for me to bear the responsibility of leading the Joint Chiefs of Staff during a period in which our region witnessed accelerating circumstances and challenges, and to work alongside the brave men and women of the Arab Army, guided by Your Majesty's directives and wise vision, to enhance the capabilities of our Armed Forces and raise their readiness and efficiency, so that they remain as You have always wanted them to be: the homeland's impregnable shield and sturdy fence. I was also honored, under Your Majesty's directives, to work on modernizing, developing, and restructuring the Armed Forces, and enhancing their operational and training capabilities, keeping pace with current and future threats and consolidating institutional work within its formations and units. Sir, Your Majesty the Supreme Commander, What was achieved during the years of my service could not have been achieved were it not for Your Majesty's care and continuous support for the Armed Forces, and the efforts of the brave men and women of the Arab Army—officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel—who were at all times faithful to their oath and trust. My Sovereign, My departure from my position and the conclusion of my military service will not change a pledge I made to myself from the first day I was honored to wear the military uniform: to remain a faithful soldier to Your Majesty, loyal to Jordan and its Hashemite throne, keen to serve it in every position of work and giving. As I renew to Your Majesty my profound thanks and gratitude for Your precious words and trust, which will remain a source of pride, I pray to God Almighty to protect and preserve You, grant You His help and success, and keep You a leader and pillar for Jordan, its people, and its Armed Forces. Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. Retired Staff Lieutenant General Pilot Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti 21 Rabi' Al-Awwal 1448 September 3, 2026.' Source: Rum News Agency
