Prime Minister Jafar Hassan directed the expansion of the free school transportation project in the Southern Badia regions to include 3,500 new students starting from the beginning of the upcoming second academic semester. Under the decision, the total number of beneficiary students in the Southern Badia regions will reach 12,500 students, up from 9,000 students, in addition to approximately 900 male and female teachers. The expansion comes in light of the government's evaluation of the first phase's implementation, which launched in Southern Badia schools at the start of the current academic year. The project contributed to addressing transportation challenges facing many students and easing financial burdens on them and their families by providing comprehensive, cost-free school transport. The government initiated the implementation of the project in partnership with the private sector, covering 61 public schools in the Southern Badia in its initial phase through the provision of 120 buses. During the upcoming phase, a smart application for free school transportation will be launched, enabling parents to track their children's commute to and from school and view arrival times. The application will be linked to electronic tracking systems and onboard cameras installed in the buses. As part of the overall expansion plan, the government intends to replicate the initiative to later include areas across the central and northern regions of the Kingdom. Source: Rum News Agency
