Personnel from the Health Affairs Directorate and the Market Control Department at the Greater Karak Municipality confiscated a total of 205 kilograms of expired meat unfit for human consumption during two separate inspection tours on Friday. The evening inspection campaign followed an initial morning round during which inspectors seized 188 kilograms of expired African veal. Teams confiscated an additional 17 kilograms during the second tour, bringing the total volume to 205 kilograms, all of which was impounded and destroyed in accordance with established legal procedures. The two inspection campaigns were executed in joint coordination between the Greater Karak Municipality, the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), and the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection (REAP). The joint effort aimed to audit commercial establishments for compliance with health and safety regulations and intercept non-compliant food items before reaching consumers. Municipal authorities confirmed that legal citations were issued against the violating establishments, and their files were referred to the judiciary for legal action. The municipality reiterated that field inspection tours will continue across all markets in the Karak Governorate to safeguard food safety and public health.
