Member of Parliament Dr. Ahmad Al-Raqab submitted a parliamentary memorandum addressed to the government, stemming from his oversight and legislative role and out of a keenness to ensure fairness for military and civilian workers and retirees who dedicated the prime of their lives to serving the nation. In his memorandum, MP Al-Raqab demanded an urgent review of the criteria and mechanisms for disbursing the scheduled 30-dinar increase intended for implementation alongside the 2027 budget, criticizing the setting of a salary cap of 600 dinars, which deprives thousands of citizens of this basic livelihood right. Consider that an employee or retiree receiving a salary of 601 dinars is completely deprived of the increase simply for exceeding the cap by a single dinar, while the salary of someone earning 595 dinars rises to 625 dinars following the increase, thereby surpassing their colleague's pay and creating a clear state of inequality. The memorandum also questioned whether the family allowance is included within total salary calculations, and the resulting arbitrary exclusion of new eligible recipients who exceed the cap purely in form due to this allowance. Al-Raqab called on the government to retreat from the policy of exceptions and narrow caps, and to adopt a fair increase that encompasses all civilian and military workers and retirees without discrimination, in line with pressing living requirements and the continuous rise in inflation rates and life burdens.
