Professor Dr. Yazan Qamoh, a faculty member in the Department of Optometry at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Ahliyya Amman University, participated in the activities of the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Optometry (American Academy of Optometry 2026), held in Anaheim, California, USA, presenting two research contributions addressing key eye health issues at the local and global levels. The first research contribution was titled 'Children's Compliance with Wearing Eyeglasses Following Detection of Visual Problems Through a Teacher-Led Vision Screening Program.' It presented the results of a study conducted in Jordan regarding school students' compliance with wearing prescribed eyeglasses and the factors influencing it, highlighting the role of teachers in follow-up and enhancing the sustainability of school-based health interventions. The second research contribution was titled 'Results of the 2023 Global Collaborative Survey on the Eye Care Workforce Among Optometrists and Ophthalmologists,' conducted as part of an international research collaboration with the World Council of Optometry (WCO). The study examined the geographical distribution of the eye care workforce and disparities in the availability of specialized personnel across countries, supporting strategic planning for developing eye health services and improving access to them. On the sidelines of the conference, Prof. Dr. Qamoh participated in the annual meeting of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH International) and received an award under the Technology Transfer Program in recognition of efforts to support eye care services and develop the capacities of institutions working in this field, particularly in high-need communities.
