AMMAN Under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Imad Hijazeen, the Jordan Hotels Association and Rooh Al Sharq Development Center have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and preparing them for professional integration into the hotel sector. The agreement reflects the Royal Vision, which places human dignity, equal opportunities, and economic participation at the heart of national development. Dr. Hijazeen emphasized that the agreement embodies the Royal Directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who highlighted the importance of inclusion and economic participation, including within the tourism sector, in his address at the 2022 Global Disability Summit. He noted that genuine development is measured not only by its economic returns, but also by its ability to empower individuals, unlock their potential, and strengthen their participation in production and nation-building. The agreement is aligned with the direction of the Jordan Hotels Association's Board of Directors, represented by its President, Hussein Hilalat, and board members, to strengthen institutional social responsibility and promote meaningful partnerships that translate national commitments into training programs and sustainable employment opportunities. Hani Al-Dabbas, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and its Official Spokesperson, stated that this partnership represents a shift from a culture of care to a system of empowerment, and from symbolic initiatives to sustainable developmental impact. He emphasized that persons with disabilities are not merely beneficiaries of opportunities, but active partners in production and in creating economic and social value. Al-Dabbas added that disability does not define an individual's abilities or limit their ambitions. He stressed that institutions have a responsibility to remove barriers and ensure equal access to opportunities. He also noted that the hotel sector has the potential to transform human diversity into genuine productive capacity, emphasizing that investing in people is the most sustainable form of investment. Al-Dabbas further revealed that the next step will be to organize a specialized national workshop under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, bringing together representatives of hotels and relevant institutions involved in the rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities. The workshop will aim to expand partnerships, coordinate institutional efforts, and identify practical pathways for training and employment, ultimately establishing a sustainable cooperation framework that links training outcomes with the needs of the hotel labor market and translates commitments into measurable, actionable initiatives. For his part, the Director General of Rooh Al Sharq Development Center affirmed that the agreement establishes a strategic partnership linking vocational rehabilitation with labor market needs, while opening practical pathways for acquiring skills and experience. This will strengthen the economic independence and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. The agreement includes practical training programs and career guidance within hotels, the development of inclusive workplace environments, and enhanced institutional awareness. These initiatives aim to establish a national model of partnership between the hotel sector and development institutions, transforming social responsibility into tangible economic and humanitarian impact.
