The Parliamentary Committee on Labor, Social Development and Population discussed, during a meeting, today, Sunday, the issue of dismissing a number of employees in the Grendel Company, and listening to the demands of a number of company employees.
The head of the committee, Representative Hussein Al-Harasis, demanded the presence of the General Director of the Grindel Company, Bassem Fanous, the Director of Labor Relations at the Ministry of Labor, Adnan Al-Dahamshe, the head of the General Federation of Jordan Trade Unions, Mazen Al-Maaytah, and a number of workers, for the necessity of returning the dismissed workers to their work, who did not negatively affect the work. The company's performance and workflow, raising the value of the living allowance and the risk of work for Grendel employees.
In turn, the representatives, Asmaa Al-Rawahneh, Eid Al-Nuaimat, Amghair Al-Dajjah, Ahmed Al-Qatawneh, Imad Al-Adwan, Hayel Ayyash, and Shadi Freij stressed the need to solve the employees' problems and overcome the difficulties they face.
For his part, Fanous said that the contract signed between the worker and the company 'is a legal contract', and it is renewed annually, because the contract signed between the Grendel and Electricity companies is also renewed annually.
With regard to annual leaves, Fanous clarified that they are not credited for the following year, but the worker is financially compensated for those leaves.
Regarding health insurance, Fanous said that the worker does not bear any deduction from his monthly salary, as a result of the company's commitment to health insurance with a private company.
Concerning labor claims to raise the value of the hazardous work allowance and the living allowance, Fanous indicated that this file will be studied, and the Parliamentary Labor Committee will be provided with the company's decision.
For his part, Al-Dahamsheh said that there are two types of contracts: permanent and fixed-term, and the latter is better for the employer than the permanent contract, noting at the same time that the constitution guarantees the right to join unions.
In addition, the attendees reviewed their most prominent demands, the most important of which are: joining the of the Electricity Company, amending the health insurance, raising the value of the hazard allowance and the living allowance granted to them, and returning the dismissed to their work.
