According to Istanbul's Governor, several were reported dead and many injured after an explosion occurred in the Taksim area in Istanbul.
The governor, Ali Yerlikaya, posted on Twitter that “today, at around 16:20, an explosion occurred in Taksim Istiklal Street in our Beyoğlu district.”
He added that there were casualties and injuries and “police, health, fire and AFAD teams were sent to the scene.”
“Developments will be shared with the public,” the governor said.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown.
