The number of users of electronic wallets for electronic payment during the month of January reached 2.19 million users, compared to 2.16 million users in the previous month, an increase of 1.3%, according to a report by the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Systems Company (JoPACC).
The company added in its statistics report issued last January, which the Kingdom reviewed, that the number of payment transactions via electronic wallets in Jordan reached 3.5 million transactions, compared to 3.1 million transactions in December, an increase of 13.7%.
The report indicated that the value of payment system transactions mediated by governors amounted to 360 million dinars last month, compared to 333 million dinars in the previous month (December), an increase of 8%. The report indicated that the average value of payment transactions during the past month It amounted to 103 Jordanian dinars.
The report showed that 87.6% of the transactions through the wallets, with a volume of 3.1 million transactions, were carried out for the purposes of transferring funds, and 4.7%, with a volume of 163 thousand transactions, were carried out for the purposes of withdrawal, then 4.5%, with a volume of 158 thousand transactions, were carried out for the purposes of purchases, in addition to 3.3%, with a volume of 114 thousand transactions. The report showed that 88.2% of e-wallet users are Jordanians, estimated at 1.93 million people, while 11.8% of its users are non-Jordanians, numbering 258 thousand people, while it showed that 52.4% of e-wallet customers are male, numbering 1.15 million people, and 47.2% Of the clients are female, numbering 1.03 million females.
The user statistics were distributed by age group to 2,000 for the age group under 18 years, 790,000 for the ages from 18 to 30 years, 564,000 for the ages from 31 to 40 years, and 425,000 for the ages from 41 to 50 years.
To 263,000 customers aged 51 to 60 years, 93,000 customers aged 61 to 70 years, 34,000 customers aged 71 to 80 years, and 12,000 customers aged 81 to 90 years.
