Orange Jordan briefed national institutions and experts participating in the “Towards Green Buildings” event, organized by the Jordan Green Building Council at the King Hussein Club on February 27, on its green vision aligned with the national vision. It also showcased a number of initiatives and projects implemented within its environmental strategy.
The event, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the council’s founding, was sponsored by Orange Jordan, which falls under the extended strategic partnership between the two parties, with Orange being a platinum member of the council. During the event, Orange renewed its commitment to the national green vision, especially in light of the shrinking green spaces and their impact on the quality of life.
Engineer Walid Al-Nabulsi, responsible for the environmental program at Orange Jordan, represented the company at the event. He pointed out that Orange Jordan’s green vision stems from the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals numbers 7, 9, 12, and 13, in addition to the group’s “Lead the Future” strategy, which prioritizes the environment as one of the most important pillars for the future.
Al-Nabulsi noted that Orange Jordan adopts a comprehensive environmental strategy that operates on both internal and external levels to include employees, customers, partners, and stakeholders through reducing their carbon footprint and emissions, starting from “the responsibility of each of us towards the environment,” which can reflect on the nation and the environment as a whole.
Al-Nabulsi concluded his speech by referring to Orange Jordan’s ambitious environmental goals, aiming to reach zero carbon emissions by 2040 and to generate 50% of its electricity needs from renewable energy sources by 2025. He affirmed that achieving the required change in a vital and important field like the environment, which affects the future and quality of our lives, requires more solid commitments and long-term plans to build on what has been achieved and to set a future vision to accomplish more.
